This week, we broadcast our 147th episode of Gensokyo Radio Live, continued to work on an internal automation system, and are reminding folks to submit song ratings before the year’s end. For more details, read on!

Live #147 brought on Lunar, DMJ654, and Nano as its hosts, and as is tradition with our December shows, we recapped the year and took a peek at what’s ahead. Summarizing an entire year is tough, but here are a few highlights (among many others) that we talked about:

  • Our core streaming architecture transitioned to a purely Linux-based system in Jan/Feb.
  • We publicly launched our PWA with a new URL: https://app.gensokyoradio.net.
  • We spotted an Antarctic listener from McMurdo Station in March, making our radio station heard across all seven continents.
  • Gensokyo Radio participated in TouhouFest 2024 in Torrance, CA with a booth space.
  • We migrated our tech stack to make it easier to upgrade and redeploy in the future.
  • We released three new products including two additional “Touhouette” series T-shirts and our Digital Miko coffee mug.
  • We collaborated with Idea Factory International to bring our fans a few free copies of Touhou Spell Carnival.
  • We collaborated with BBEX International to bring more fans to their cause, tell more people about our radio station, and will be co-hosting the livestream event at the end of December.

We’ve been working behind the scenes on a system which automates the rotation of files on and off of our broadcast server, and this week we’ve reached the point where it can be deployed as part of our regular process. Some listeners have already commented that the station appears to play more songs that haven’t played as often or recently, and this was the goal of the system. There are a few minor things to adjust, but overall this appears to be working well!

Finally, the end of the year is quickly approaching, and we’d like to remind listeners to continue submitting song ratings to determine what this year’s Top 100 Touhou songs will be! This is a list that we publish at the end of every year accompanied by a video which samples all 100 songs.

That’s all for this week! Remember to submit song ratings via the website or web app, and thanks for listening!
