This week, we continued to work through a list of app-related fixes, improved the broad variety of music on the station, and are ramping up for an open beta launch. For more details, read on!

In our quest to improve variety across the station, we dug into our history data and identified over 40 circles that appeared less than once per week. As a result of adding additional tracks to the rotation, we’ve seen an increase in appearances from 39 circles so far, with 2 circles remaining above the 1 week threshold and only 5 circles above the 5-day threshold. At a certain point, variety becomes tied to the number of songs available in our library from a given circle. The two circles left behind, Scinicade and Blue Green Music, each currently have one song available. We’ll be adding additional tracks from BGM soon, but Scinicade’s album is actually a drama CD with one music track, so we’ll need to see about getting additional works before their stats improve. As for everything else, variety has increased, but there’s always room for improvement, so we’ll be looking at additional metrics in the not-too-distant future.

As previously mentioned, we’ve had a list of items to work through related to our new PWA, or Progressive Web App, which will serve as the basis for the next mobile application release. We’re working through the last few items and are on-track to shift from closed beta to open beta shortly. Thank you to our team of testers for helping out!

Open beta access to our new mobile application will first be available in PWA form, meaning you’ll be able to access it through a web browser with the option of “installing” it on most modern smartphone and tablet devices. Native app access via the Google Play store and the App Store will come at a later date, and translations will be added over time during the open beta phase. We will also be opening up feedback to everyone so that we can continue to make further improvements and fixes as necessary. Open beta will launch on Cirno Day: Saturday, September 9th, 2023.

We hope you’ll look forward to the open beta coming soon, and thanks for listening!
