Over the past few weeks, the Gensokyo Radio community on Discord has surpassed 4,000 members, the new web store is getting closer to launch, and we’ve got a Live show to look forward to this weekend. For more details, read on!

As one of the first Touhou-related communities to grace the platform, Gensokyo Radio’s online community originally formed on Steam and lived there for a few years before migrating to Discord way back in September 2015. We were partnered with Discord for 7+ years, joined the Discord Hypesquad when it was around, have piloted new features such as the Public Discord Stages feature which helped kick-off our Meetup podcast series, and have remained one of the cleanest communities in this space for both new and seasoned fans.

Of course, quality often doesn’t correlate to quantity, so our community and social channels have always been pretty slow growing, and for the most part that’s been fine with us. Our real big numbers don’t come from any other website or platform; they come from our own radio station where we’re quietly buzzing along with several thousands of connections throughout each day. Still, it’s nice to see our more outward-facing communities and channels continue to grow and welcome new listeners and fans because it ultimately helps translate into more listeners for the artists and circles that we and our community support.

To that end, as the current station owner, I’d like to thank you for being part of our community and helping us continue to support independent artists and groups around the world. We’re continuing this theme through the development of Station.moe, but Gensokyo Radio will forever be our springboard and one which we’ll continue to support for as long as we’re able. The community we’ve built and maintained over the years has been a massive help. Through your continued support, we’ll be able to reach further beyond and achieve those big goals we’ve set for ourselves.

In other news, our web store has been in the process of being rebuilt in order to address a couple of key integrations that have been broken on the live store for some time now. We’ve talked about this much before, but what’s new is the progress we’ve made.

So far, the new web store has all of the products of the old store imported with names, descriptions, s, categories, etc. Listing products via categories is also working at this time, with the sections on the homepage mimicking the current store website. The header has been simplified and shortened but still has all of the main functions that visitors use most. We’re still working on finalizing the cart system, the payment system is partially integrated, and the shipping integration has yet to be started. However, once those things are in-place, tested, and working, we should be able to get the store back up and available for everyone using guest accounts. Secondary systems that we’re leaving for after launch may include search, sales and coupons, accounts, and some backend tools to help us and our partners with store-related operations.

Finally, Live #164 is forthcoming and scheduled for Saturday, May 23rd, 2026. Podcast episodes are still near the back of the work queue, so please catch these shows during the broadcast if you’re able. New music is still hard to come by for the time being, given everything else that’s going on, but we’ve always got good music and news to share.

That’s all for this update, stay tuned for more music and news related to the store and Station, and thanks for listening!
