Post-Migration Musicbox & Tempest Joins the Staff Team

This week, we worked on re-integrating Musicbox into our current tech setup, plus we’re welcoming Tempest as our newest member of the station staff team. For more details, read on!

Keeping the radio station fresh with new music is a constant challenge over time, and with the help of listeners like you and our distributed team, we’re able to buy music and update the station’s rotation on a regular basis… or at least that’s what used to happen with the help of our in-house ingest system aptly named Musicbox. After we updated our systems in June 2024, there was a fundamental piece that changed which basically meant running Musicbox became a more manual process, and the whole point with that system is to automate it. Fixing the connection between these two systems was not straightforward, but we were able to complete re-integration which paves the way for more frequent music updates in the future.

With that, we’ve added new music from the following circles in the past week:

Last but not least, we welcomed Tempest to the Gensokyo Radio staff team! Tempest has been a moderator for the Gensokyo Radio Discord server since January 1st, 2019. They began writing their own review series on the side called “Tempest’s Touhou Music Ramblings” in 2023 and cross-posted on the Gensokyo Radio forums for additional visibility. They also made a brief appearance as a guest during Meetup #1: Meet the Staff Team where we piloted the Discord Public Stages feature. Like the rest of us on the staff team, they’re passionate about independent artists and fan-made music in this niche space, so give them a warm welcome!
