We recently re-introduced Project Knightune by its production name and launched an informational website which is now available publicly at Station.moe.
At the time of posting, we’re continuing to transition the full Phase 1 version of Station from our development environment to the production environment. The transition between versions has been a bit weird because, in addition to developing Station over the past year, we’ve also changed our production environment in a pretty major way which is geared towards improving availability, resilience, and scalability in preparation for hosting Station. Once everything’s working in the new environment, we’ll push the full Phase 1 edition of Station publicly.
It will be possible to create an account on Station for Phase 1, but the majority of features will be locked behind artist verification. In order to make what we hope will become a compelling music streaming platform that emphasizes real artists’ works, this phase focuses on interacting with those artists to better understand what their needs and wants are, and it gives us an opportunity to improve what we’ve already built out before moving on to the platform’s frontend systems in the following phase. After Phase 1 is out, we’ll be switching over to store development for a time before returning back to Station.
The store (at Gensokyo.store) is still in read-only mode after a couple third-party integrations broke earlier in March. To summarize our work on that up to this point, we spent some time testing about six alternative e-commerce platforms, but determined that none of them met our criteria. We’ve already spent some time building out a new version of the store (which took time away from getting Phase 1 out in full by our most recent Live show), and we aim to complete this in April. We’ll be skipping some of the niceties like coupons on re-launch, but that won’t affect the overall usability of the website.
Finally, forum stats have been truncated for most of March due to multiple re-deployments. This doesn’t affect any major content like posts, but view counts will be weirdly low for recent posts. We should have everything ironed out at this point with forum migration, so hopefully this is the last time we talk about the forums for a while.
It’s been a weird month, but we should feel some real progress in April with the store and Phase 1 of Station coming out, plus we still have additional systems and websites to migrate, so stay tuned for more, and thanks for listening!
