Over the past few weeks, we had our 154th episode of Gensokyo Radio Live, opened up more music for rotation, restocked Antares Enigma CDs, and continued work on a major project. For more details, read on!

Live #154 brought on all five of our staff members with Tempest making their debut appearance on a Live show and their second appearance during any audio-based event. During the show, we talked about new Touhou fangames, new music on the station, and we capped the episode with a lively discussion about streaming platforms and their impact on artists.

Stationside, we addressed a known issue with our radio automation software where files with similar names would be omitted from the rotation due to the way the software handles ingest. We ended up developing a simple script to add previously omitted songs to an internal database where we are continuing to filter through songs over time. As a result, you may catch songs that are new or haven’t played in a while on the station.

Store-side, we’re continuing to work directly with some circles such as Antares Enigma who recently needed to restock their CDs on our store. If you’re part of a fan circle who is interested in making your works available online without the hassle of fulfillment or shipping, we can help! Thank you to our amazing community for supporting our artists!

Finally, we’re continuing to work on a project which we alluded briefly to during our discussion in the most recent Live episode. Supporting artists is something that’s become a constant theme at Gensokyo Radio; we do so through our platform, directly purchase music from market events when able, work with artists via consignment on our store, and encourage our listeners to support as well.

We can’t say much at this stage about what we’ve got cooking, but it’s safe to say we’ve got our own opinions and ideas about how the enjoyment of music has changed since beginning our internet radio adventure back in 2011, and how the ways in which listeners support artists at large have also changed. Internet radio remains a popular way to tune in, and our station isn’t going anywhere, but we also see a better path forward for supporting artists and more directly enabling listeners to support their favorite artists. We look forward to telling you more when the time comes.

We’ve got more episodes of Live out now on podcast platforms, so go tune in if you’ve been missing out, and thanks for listening!
